View from Trellis Cottage Garden

                                       Trellis Cottage

Trellis Cottage is situated in the heart of Swaledale with its own grounds and magnificent panoramic views.  The original foundation stone was laid over 300 years ago and Trellis retains some outstanding period features but combines them tastefully with all modern conveniences.    The hamlet of Low Row is 3.5 miles from Reeth where there is a bakery, grocery store, Post Office ,three pubs and some excellent restaurants and tea shops.  The outstanding Punch Bowl gastro pub is just two hundred yards away.  The location is ideal for walkers and cyclists, but is also a haven for bird watchers.  Alternatively, you may wish to curl in front of the fire and read a good book, or just enjoy the views from any of the rooms.    To check availability.  Sleeping accommodation for six people. Trellis Garden in Summer

The Garden in May

The main entrance to Trellis is through a five barred gate onto a cobbled drive which will accommodate two cars or three smaller cars. The garden is private, enclosed and sheltered with uninterrupted views of magnificent Swaledale.  Garden furniture is provided.  Trellis is ideal for family groups or as a romantic retreat for couples.

The cottage looks onto Trellis field where a local farmer grazes his sheep.  In spring the lambs provide a delightful spectacle.

The garden is south facing looking across the dale to Whitaside.  It is terraced into three
levels with a patio and stone table on the middle terrace.

The charming market towns of Leyburn ,Richmond, Hawes and Barnard Castle are all
roughly 30 minutes away and Hawes is also home to the Wensleydale Creamery which is
well worth a visit.

Swaledale is a walkers paradise and also forms a good part of the Coast to Coast walk.
There are also dozens of lovely easy walks for the less athletic and the meadow flowers
in May and June can be absolutely stunning.  The bird life in the dale can also be fascinating
and both Goldfinches and Woodpeckers have been spotted in the Trellis garden.  Grouse,
Curlews, Lapwings and may others can all be easily seen on the moors at the back of the
cottage.
